Introduction to WeSEE
WeSEE (Women’s Empowerment in Sustainable Energy in ECA) is a regional initiative committed to strengthening gender equality across the energy sector in Europe and Central Asia. Through strategic partnerships and focused action, WeSEE supports women’s participation in technical and leadership roles, fostering inclusive workplaces and advancing policy-level change under four key pillars: education-to-workforce transition, recruitment and career advancement, inclusive work environments, and institutional reform.

How to Join WeSEE
WeSEE welcomes energy institutions committed to gender equality. The partner enrollment process includes:
1. Expression of Interest
- The institution submits a Letter of Interest and nominates a WeSEE Focal Point (FP).
2️. Development of List of Activities (LoAs)
- The Focal Point collaborates with WeSEE to define realistic gender-related targets.
- These targets align with one or more of WeSEE’s four strategic pillars.
3️. Approval and Commitment
- The institution’s senior management endorses the LoAs.
- A formal partnership agreement is signed.
4️. Official Onboarding
- The institution is welcomed as an official WeSEE partner.
- Partners receive access to WeSEE’s resources, events, and reporting frameworks.
Success Measurement & Reporting
WeSEE follows a structured results-sharing cycle to measure partner impact:
Target Setting
- Partners agree on gender activities and set measurable targets.
Implementation
- Partners execute planned activities within their organizations.
Results Sharing
- Bi-annual reporting to the WeSEE Secretariat.
- Data collection on activity impact (e.g., number of women hired, trained, or promoted).
Public Recognition
- WeSEE highlights partner achievements via newsletters, reports, and media platforms.
Structure of WeSEE
WeSEE operates through a structured and collaborative framework:
- Partners: Energy sector institutions in ECA (utilities, energy companies, ministries, etc.).
- Steering Committee: Composed of selected WeSEE partners who drive the initiative forward.
- Secretariat: Managed by the ECA Energy and Gender Facility (ECAGE) at the World Bank, serving as the interim secretariat.
This structure ensures seamless communication, activity implementation, and progress monitoring.
